Gladys Marie Nock, affectionately known as Sister Marie.
Sister Marie was educated in the Tallahassee and Orlando, Florida, public school systems, and she completed high school at Trenton Central High.
She attended Mercer County Community College in West Windsor, NJ, and attended Hamilton School of Nursing.
She has three lovely daughters, Stephanie, Katrina, and Tyra, and one step-son, Manny Elton Nock. Five grandchildren: Darryl, Breasha, Breshawn, Kahmya, and Arianna.
Five godchildren: John, Marie, Keya, Isaiah, and James. Every Friday night since 2009, her family has gotten together for Family Night Bible Study. And they continue to meet and study God’s Word up until this present day.
At the young age of 11, she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at Popular Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida.
Sister Marie was originally a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, New Jersey. After moving to Pennsylvania, she joined Second Baptist Church in Bristol, PA, until 1999. Then, upon moving back to New Jersey, she was a faithful member of Living Bread Ministry in Ewing, NJ, for 16 years, serving under the late Pastor Oscar Bradley, and then his wife took over the ministry. Throughout her Christian life, she was a choir member, an usher, and a steward of the church.
For 43 years, she worked in many capacities of state services. She retired in 2013. Her last position was at Anne Klein Forensic Center as an Instructor Counselor in maximum security for inmates dealing with mental issues in the prison system. She taught Behavior Modification, using techniques to increase or decrease specific types of behavior. She taught socialization skills and did group and individual counseling.
The love she has for souls caused the officers to come to her for counseling, even though this was not in her job description. During her tenure, Sister Marie also incorporated a Bible Study Group in the rehab department during lunch breaks.
Sister Marie volunteered as a Response Team Member with the Trenton Police Department during Domestic Violence situations. She is also a longtime member of Echo’s in Ewing, NJ, for Seniors.
Sister Marie joined Faith Deliverance Worship Center in August 2014 after Living Bread Ministry joined another ministry. Less than two years later, Sister Marie was part of the Nursing Home Ministry and ministered alongside Rev. Kelley at the Virtua Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Holly until 2020, when COVID shut down many of their outside activities. Many of the residents were blessed and looked forward to God’s Ministry.
Here at Faith Deliverance, Sister Marie serves on the Evangelism Ministry with Deaconess Doris Holloway and the Women’s Fellowship Ministry with Minister Martha Harris. Moreover, she teaches the Adult Sunday School Class whenever she is called upon and is an Intercessory Prayer Warrior. Sister Marie also serves on the Decoration Committee, which highlights the various holidays throughout the year.
Sister Marie praises God for the opportunities He has afforded her and prays that she continues to be pleasing in His sight as she listens for His voice and stays on the right course.
She stands on John 15:5 – I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.
Therefore, she is praying, discerning, being obedient to His Word, believing, trusting, and remaining faithful in all areas of her life and in all situations with hope and expectation.
She prays for boldness, yet humbleness and meekness that she never gets caught up in pride that would take her off course of what God has for her.
